Most Everyone Needs A Lender For A Mortgage. There is a myth that if you shop around for a mortgage and lenders pull your credit several times it will lower a buyers credit score. Not true. If you shop around for a loan to buy a new car, yes. each inquiry will result in a "hit" and lower your overall score. Mortgage Lenders expect a buyer to shop around. This is a big decision and every lender wants your business. If you have several inquiries within a short timeframe a lender will read it as your "shopping" and count it as one (1) hit on your report. A buyer would benefit greatly by obtaining a list of lenders their agent works with on a regular basis. Why? Because your agent and that lender know how each other conducts business. It'll make the process go much smoother, and that's what every buyer or seller wants. A smooth transaction.
