Preparing Your Home For The Market. Make It Look Like A Model!

I can't stress this enough. I sold my personal home in 6 days, so I know it works! Within the first 15 seconds a buyer has developed an opinion of your property and most likely the amount they feel it's worth. These suggestions and practical ideas will give you an idea of how to successfully prepare your house for sale. They require a minimum amount of time and expense to complete and are designed to make your house stand out from the competition!

The impact of small details make big statements about the perceived condition of your home and how well you have cared for it while you lived there; therefore creating value to a potential buyer. This video from Service Magic helps explain how curb appeal can make or break the interest for a buyer. This is the first place you want to start your preparations.

Give The Inside Of Your Home The Model Makeover.

Clean! Clean! Clean! (Even the baseboards and chair rails)

Neutralize the colors and interior decor to accent the homes features.

Make the air smell new and clean by adding vent air fresheners will guarantee your whole home smells great!

The sound in the home should be of peace and quiet but can also be enhanced by subtle background music. (Light Classical or music in theme to the Holidays is best)

Keep your windows clean, use mirrors to reflect light and space, if you can turn on all lights and open the drapes & blinds before a showing.

Place fresh flowers on the dining room table and hidden bowls of potpourri in the closets.

If possible rent a PODS and remove all clutter from the house. Your moving anyway, might as well get started.

Depersonalize. You may really adore your handmade doily collection, but it could make the space look cluttered.

If doing all this isn't for you, think about hiring a professional home stager. They can help depersonalize the home and create an environment that a buyer can picture themselves living in.
