Charlotte's Downtown is called Uptown and for good reason. As one of the Nations largest financial centers, only 2nd to New York City, Charlotte is home to Bank of America and Wachovia as well as 300 of the Fortune 500 companies.
Center city is an exciting place to live, but there are also great communities within a short commute for singles, families and a growing number for retirees. There is always something to find when moving here and the hardest decision is which to choose from the competing good choices.

There are currently 7 tower projects underway in uptown bringing approximately 1627 additional living units and about 1.2 billion dollars of proposed projects which will add another 1700 units for our population of near 10,000 people who live and work in the center city while keeping our vacancy rates lower than Manhattan. The Johnson & Wales Culinary University brings local flavor to most of the area restaurants like, Zink, Rock Bottom, McCormick's & Schmick's, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Monticello, The Capitol Grill and so many more. There is also the NASCAR Hall of Fame, The NFL Carolina Panthers, The MBA Charlotte Bobcats The Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League and a proposed Major league Baseball team to complement our Minor league, the Charlotte Knights. The Discovery Place, Imaginon, The Blumenthal Center for performing arts, The Mint Museum of craft and design are all located in Uptown while Carowinds theme park and the National Whitewater park are only a few minutes away.
